Summary of Job Responsibilities:
Server Data Base Administrator
The Data Base Administrator (DBA) is responsible for supporting the Server databases and ensuring their performance, availability and security. Additional tasks may include database maintenance and support for databases for the parent organization and assisting with customer support issues.
DBA will also providing technical support for the database environment including overseeing the development and organization of the databases, assessment and implementation of new technologies, and providing Information Technology with a long-term perspective on the relationship of database technology to the business opportunities facing the company. The DBA is challenged to work with architecture, application development and operations to help achieve a state-of-the-art environment that meets current and future business objectives. S/he shall provide and design tools to assist in the management of the database and transaction processing environment and works to provide a working model of our transaction processing environment for capacity assessment and planning.
This position entails developing a methodology for the ongoing assessment of database performance and the identification of problem areas. Successful candidate can develop a security scheme for the database environment, as well as assisting in disaster recovery if necessary and provide leadership during the development and enhancement of production applications including working with applications, technical support and operations during the design, development and implementation of applications. S/he will work with the transaction processing area to develop both the physical and the logical database administration functions and assists in the development of our processing database and computing environments and work with teammates in IT to build the logical database area and provide technical guidance during all phases of the development process. S/he will also work with vendors in evaluating and implementing new technologies.

Senior System Administrator
The Senior Systems Administrator (SSA) manages a clustered Windows 2000/2003 Server, and Unix / FreeBSD / Linux Servers 24/7 data-center environment (60-100 servers). This includes but is not limited to assisting in the planning, design, and implementation of mission critical servers (such as game servers, database servers, corporate email and workgroup, web servers, etc). S/he will plan, execute, and manage systems management procedures for the server farm including performance monitoring and tuning tasks, backup strategies, disaster recovery strategies, security monitoring, among others. The successful candidate must provide on-call 24/7 support.
SSA roles include accountabilities for our VPN services and WINS while s/he implements DHCP and User access responsibilities in NT Domain Server, User access responsibilities in MS Outlook, Anti-Virus programs, and System Backups. While managing Corporate & Data Center (VITRO) network, s/he must also be prepare proposals for information systems and network requirements and perform other related tasks that may be necessary to fulfill his work.
Minimum Requirements
We employ open-source technologies such as PHP and PostgreSQL. This can be an advantage but generally, we are looking for a professional DBAs who is smart, willing to learn, and passionate about learning our unique architecture. This includes but not limited to enhancing and maintaining our cool and scalable web applications. The successful DBA candidate/s must be a generalist who has experience in architecting, deploying and managing highly concurrent, scalable database systems. His/her experience with other DBMS's such as Oracle or SQLServer is valued. It's more important that the DBA candidate has strong relational modeling skills, knowledge of SQL & SQL programming, as well as experience in handling and tuning large databases. Data warehouse knowledge is a preference too because we generate a large amount of data in our games and billing system which needs to be mined to yield useful business intelligence for our marketing team.
For the SSA, we require candidates to knowledgeable in SQL Server 7.0/2000/2003 and IIS/Apache, MySQL, Windows 2000 Server, Windows 9xs/ ME / XP / Vista, and MS Outlook. We also prefer him/her to be experienced in Linux/Unix and MSSQL/MySQL Administration. S/he must also have experience in systems administration with NT-based systems and have excellent analytical skills involving server performance.
Candidate/s for any of these positions is preferred to have Bachelor’s Degree and/or with work-related certifications such as Windows2000/2003 Server (MCSE).
