Junior Engineer (Mechanical)

Job Description
Under the direct supervision of the Mechanical & Electrical Manager, the JUNIOR ENGINEER (Mechanical) performs a variety of professional field and office works applying mechanical engineering principles and practices in hydropower development projects; Ensures that key deliverables are completed on time and within budget, and to the highest standards possible.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Liaise with the mechanical engineers and other disciplines in the preparation of hydropower plant layouts and specification of mechanical components of the hydropower projects.
2. Provide assistance in the design efforts on both green-field and expansion projects.
3. Assist in the conduct of desk studies including gathering supporting data.
4. Participate in field reconnaissance, as necessary, to obtain measurements and/or verify site conditions and as built documentation.
5. Provide inputs on design optimization to green-field projects in tendering stage and review of E & M Contractor offers during tender evaluations.
6. Develop engineering mechanical drawings that effectively communicate required work to Contractors and Suppliers.
7. Communicate with design engineers to resolve design discrepancies, if there is any.
8. Ensure accuracy of drawings including dimensions, spellings, drafting standards and completeness utilizing correct project design data.
9. Perform engineering calculations; prepare technical specifications, construction program and schedules, and documents for contract bids.
10. Provide supervision & support during installation, testing, and startup of hydro equipment in the project sites.
11. Participate in field inspections and generate reports.
12. Gather, prepare and maintain engineering data, records and reports.
13. Demonstrate and apply technical knowledge of design practices, codes and standards applicable to civil engineering.
14. Monitor changes on the design and update drawings, as necessary, in close coordination with the engineering designers.
15. Manage, document, and follow procedures for engineering management, including quality control, documentation of decisions and administrative filing and document control.
16. Maintain strict confidentiality of highly restricted detailed engineering drawings.
17. Ensure that culture is aligned with the core values of the company and the community.
18. Ensure that the activities are being carried out in accordance with policies and guidance established including Health, Safety, Environment and Social policies.
19. Perform any other related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by immediate superior consistent with the purpose of this role.
